Successful panoramic selfie campaign for DEWA during #EarthHourDubai!

This week-end, we were in Dubai for the Earth Hour Challenge. We were very excited to get the opportunity to install our panoramic selfie solution in front of the Burj Khalifa!

The Burj Khalifa, known as the Burj Dubai before its inauguration, is a megatall skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It has a roof height of 828 m (2,717 ft), and with its antenna included, it stands a total height of 829.8 m (2,722 ft), making it the tallest building and the tallest structure in the world.

The UAE has been celebrating Earth Hour every year since 2008, with all seven emirates involved. It is the biggest environmental event of the year, and with each passing Earth Hour more and more people are showing their commitment to our planet.

In addition, we've also tested a new creative trick at the end of the zoom-out.  Together with the fact that the video is now looping, it makes the whole package quite spectacular on social media!

#brusselsandme city marketing campaign - summer'16

Last summer, the City of Brussels gave tourists the chance to immortalize their visit to the Atomium or the Grand Place in an original way, to say the least: by making a panoramic selfie! The initiative took place over 3 weeks (from 8 to 28 August 2016).  Nearly 20,000 participants have tested the panoramic selfie during the Brussels and Me city marketing campaign...

1,500,000 people were involved in the initiative on social networks.  Each selfie posted by a participant on Facebook or Instagram was seen by more than 100 of their friends on average. In total, these selfies generated more than 65,000 interactions (like, share or comment).  More than 65% of the participants were tourists visiting Brussels, representing 148 different nationalities.

The campaign was initiated by Philippe Close, Alderman of Tourism for the City of Brussels: "Our objective was to communicate about Brussels in a positive way. We wanted to give everyone a good reason to share original content, by highlighting 2 of the emblematic sites of the capital. With this campaign, our message is the following: Brussels is flourishing and isn't short of local ideas and talent to continue the long job of bringing tourists back and presenting a positive image of our city."

Panora.me launches leading-edge ‘Panoramic Selfie’ image technology for events and brand activations

New technology lets consumers move seamlessly from extreme close-up to extreme zoom out...

Young innovative Belgian start-up Panora.me has launched a revolutionary new high-tech version of the selfie, which starts with a close-up and then zooms out further and further so the picture includes surrounding scenery.

Created for use at festivals and outdoor events or as a part of experiential campaigns, the new Panoramic Selfie works by combining close-up selfie images taken using a smartphone with other images taken by super zoom cameras located in a distance, from 200 metres to 400 meters away from the subject.

Sophisticated software then seamlessly marries together these images, turning them into a video which delivers the zoom out effect, from the initial extreme close-up selfie to the long-distance shot. The resulting video sequence can be instantly branded with the event logo or that of a sponsor and is immediately sent to the consumer’s email address. It can also be viewed on a customised branded website and shared with friends via various social media platforms.

The whole Panoramic Selfie activation is controlled and delivered by brand ambassadors, who explain how the Panoramic Selfie works to consumers, demonstrating the process and showing people where they should stand and which direction they should be looking for the remote cameras.

Raphaël de Borman, CEO of Panora.me, says: “Event organisers and sponsor brands know how powerful images are at leveraging experiential activations and driving consumer engagement. The Panoramic Selfie offers an enhanced image experience that goes way beyond the static picture that consumers can achieve themselves with their own phones. It gives them an extra incentive to engage with the event or the brand. That means they will be downloading and sharing the branded videos – which we can track using our special software, so we can deliver huge amounts of information on reach and ROI.”

In addition to driving engagement and measurability, the Panoramic Selfie is also the kind of brand activations that brings an added-value for event and festival organisers – with the unique ‘zoom out’ selfies it creates, you can see far more of what’s going on at the event than you’d get in the usual extreme close-up selfie! It’s a really exciting opportunity to wow the audience at any outdoor event and to show off to people who aren’t there just how much fun they’re missing – and why they should try to be there next time.

First tests at Tomorrowland 2016

Tomorrowland is an electronic music festival held in Boom, Belgium. Tomorrowland was first held in 2005, and has since become one of the world's largest and most notable music festivals. It now stretches over 2 weekends and usually gets sold-out in minutes...

We managed to visit Tomorrowland 2016 with our panoramic selfie system to get some interesting demos for the future :-)

We've also taken the opportunity to offer their panoramic selfie to some lucky participants that were at Grand Place Brussels the day before...
